Box Build & Product Integration

Bring the PCB, enclosure, wiring and final checks into one assembly definition.

Define the project

Product integration requires more than a populated board. Mechanical parts, cable routing, connectors, labeling, firmware, fastening and packaging all need controlled instructions. Define the finished deliverable and the checks that establish it is ready for the next stage.

Requirements to include

  • Mechanical BOM and enclosure drawings
  • Cable and harness drawings with pinouts
  • Assembly sequence and fastening requirements
  • Firmware, serial-number and labeling rules
  • Functional test, packaging and supplied accessories

Decisions to resolve before release

Provide acceptance criteria for both electrical behavior and physical assembly. A functional test can pass while a cable is routed incorrectly or a seal is omitted. Agree on the inspection record, sample approval and configuration controls needed for repeat builds.

Request a project-specific quote

Send the design revision, quantity and required date with the technical requirements above. Identify anything still under review. Feasibility, process details, inspection scope and delivery are confirmed against the actual files; a general service description is not a production approval.

Define the system interfaces

A box build combines the PCBA with the agreed enclosure, cables, connectors, controls and mechanical parts. Supply controlled drawings for the complete assembly, including wiring, connector pin maps, mounting hardware, labels and any thermal interfaces. Identify purchased subassemblies and the party responsible for each.

Clarify firmware, configuration, serialization and calibration requirements. If the product uses unique data or credentials, agree their ownership and controlled provisioning process before production. Do not place sensitive production credentials in an ordinary initial inquiry.

Accept the finished unit against a test specification

Define the intended operating checks, mechanical inspection, packaging and records required for release. Board-level functional testing does not automatically cover a reversed cable, blocked airflow path or enclosure interference. Use a representative integrated first article to review these interfaces.

Agree tooling, fixtures and nonrecurring integration work separately from the recurring unit scope. Changes to the enclosure, cable supplier or firmware can affect the complete system and should pass through revision control before the next production build.
